How to enable TPM 2.0 in BIOS for Windows 11

Find and enable Intel PTT or AMD fTPM, save the firmware settings and verify TPM 2.0 in Windows.

  1. 1. Prepare your recovery key

    If BitLocker or Device Encryption is enabled, save the recovery key first. Do not select Clear TPM.

  2. 2. Open BIOS or UEFI

    Restart the computer and repeatedly press Delete or F2 before Windows starts. F1, F10, F12 or Esc may be used on some models.

  3. 3. Find the correct setting

    On Intel systems look for PTT or Platform Trust Technology. On AMD systems look for AMD fTPM, CPU fTPM or Firmware TPM.

  4. 4. Enable TPM

    ASUS usually places it under Advanced → PCH-FW Configuration or AMD fTPM configuration. GIGABYTE uses Settings or Peripherals. MSI uses Settings → Security → Trusted Computing. Laptops usually place it under Security.

  5. 5. Save changes

    Press F10 and confirm Save Changes and Exit. Do not clear TPM.

  6. 6. Verify in Windows

    Press Win + R, run tpm.msc and confirm that the TPM is ready for use and Specification Version is 2.0.
